The blog garbo-seastrom.blogspot.com (authored by Scott Lord) is a specialized online publication and archive dedicated to the history, preservation, and critical analysis of silent cinema, with a primary focus on the Golden Age of Swedish Silent Film, Scandinavian cinema, and legendary figures such as Greta Garbo, Victor Sjöström (often spelled Seastrom), and Mauritz Stiller.

Core Themes and Content

  • The Swedish Silent Cinema Movement: The blog extensively explores the groundbreaking contributions of Swedish studios like Svenska Bio and the artistic visions of directors like Victor Sjöström and Mauritz Stiller, whose mastery of natural landscapes, psychological depth, and visual storytelling heavily influenced global cinema.

  • Greta Garbo's Early Work: Documenting Garbo's transition from European stages and silent masterpieces (such as Gösta Berlings Saga) to Hollywood stardom, looking closely at contemporary critical reception, trade papers, and rare photographs.

  • Lost Films and Archival Discovery: A significant portion of the discourse centers on film historiography—examining "lost films in found magazines," how historical periodicals, reviews, and continuity scripts offer clues to deteriorated or missing silent celluloid, and tracking down rare 35mm prints.

  • Silent Era Stars and Directors: Beyond Sweden, the blog regularly touches upon major icons and movements of the broader silent era, including analyses of classic Hollywood stars (like Clara Bow and Lon Chaney) and international directors.

I couldn’t find anything more recent right away,

i couldn't find anything more recent right away, but if you look through this blog, I have been looking The End of Puritainism and the religion of the rebelling Colonists. To tell you the truth, I usually find more on the late twentieth century, but csn keep looking.
The church is affiliated with Harvard University-Harvard College and the priests are assigned from Boston and it has no order, being neither Jesuit or Beneductine. Donna and I atteneded the Saturday evening Vigil Mass and have scheduled transportation so thst she can work in the library of our Congregational tommorow. It was our first mass at St. Paul's Parish on Bow Street Cambridge. The message was to love your neighbor as you love yourself- which I pull over quickly to mean love your wife as you love yourself and am grateful to hear. The church is beautiful, with saints in stained glass, bible scenes in fresco, and statues.
